Dining and Meet the Chefs

Hanohano Room – The Hanohano Room soars 30 floors above the famous Waikiki Beach with a panoramic view of Oahu’s south shore.  The Hanohano Room’s unmatched location, innovative cuisine, and impeccable service consistently live up to its reputation as Honolulu’s premier destination for fine dining and romance.  Among the restaurant’s line-up of entrees is an exquisite beef tournedo stuffed with spinach, blue cheese and Maui onion.  Served with a truffle port wine sauce, the beef is topped with Hudson Valley foie gras.  The Hanohano Room offers dinner daily from 5:30 p.m. with happy hour specials in the Cobalt Lounge from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Cobalt Lounge – Whether entertaining business associates, impressing a date or relaxing with friends, the Cobalt Lounge located in the Hanohano Room of the Sheraton Waikiki is the perfect milieu.  Cobalt Lounge features a monthly drink and appetizer specials nightly from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.  On Fridays and Saturdays, the lounge features “live action” stations featuring a chef preparing savory appetizers form 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. and flambé desserts from 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.  With a creatively crafted list of delicious appetizers including kataiffi wrapped Kauai shrimp and pacific crab cake with kahuku corn and 15 different martinis to choose from, you have a lot of decisions to make!

Ocean Terrace – Known for bountiful breakfast buffets, this open-air restaurant offers panoramic views of the ocean and Diamond Head.  Breakfast features a complete a la carte menu in addition to the buffet.  The breakfast buffet is offered from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. with menu service from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. daily. 

Sand Bar –This is the ideal place to be for sun lovers and people watchers, where you can sip on your favorite tropical drink while soaking in the beautiful surroundings of Waikiki Beach.  Cocktails are served poolside from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. with daily drink specials available. Enjoy entertainment by Hawaii’s premier musicians from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. daily.

“Meet the Chefs”


Daniel Delbrel, Executive Chef
Sheraton Waikiki & The Royal Hawaiian

Formerly a native of France, Chef Delbrel apprenticed in Cannes and Paris after graduating from culinary school.  After moving to the U.S., Chef Delbrel honed his culinary talents with the Ritz Carlton in Boston and Chicago, working with talented and innovative chefs.  Settling in Hawaii in 1988, Delbrel held positions at Le Soleil Restaurant at the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel and Bungalows on the Big Island and later at the Princeville Resort on Kauai.  Today, Chef Delbrel heads the entire culinary staff of the Sheraton Waikiki and The Royal Hawaiian hotel.  Chef Delbrel complements the unique flavors of Hawaii with classic French and European culinary technique.  Delbrel has appeared on various national television segments including In Food Today and Food Network’s Cooking across America.

Hanohano Room

After earning his associate degree from the Seattle Central Culinary Arts School in 1991, Amasol returned to Hawaii and began his culinary career at the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani.  He also practiced his craft at Pacific Café and helped prepare for banquets at the Prince Kuhio Hotel.  In 1999, Amasol joined the staff at The Royal Hawaiian where he oversaw the banquets held at the hotel.  As of September 2004, Ron was named the Executive Sous Chef of the Hanohano Room. 

Curtis Ogata, Executive Sous Chef
Ocean Terrace

Executive Sous Chef Curtis Ogata oversees the kitchen operations for the Ocean Terrace restaurant. Before joining the Sheraton culinary family, Ogata worked at La Mer in the Halekulani Hotel, the Kahala Mandarin, and Toronto Hilton Harbor Castle in Toronto, Canada.  His extensive community involvement includes working with Hawaii Association for Home Care where he leads cooking seminars for home care nurses at Queen’s Hospital, exhibitions at Kapiolani Community College for students, serving as a judge for the Culinary Arts Star program involving competing high-school students, performing cooking demonstrations at Kawananakoa Middle School.  Ogata also donates his time by cooking for community events including the McGruff Fun Run and the Visitor Industry Charity Walk, which he has been involved with for 15 years.
